การพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน คือการตอบสนองความต้องการของคนรุ่นปัจจุบัน โดยไม่มีผลกระทบในทางลบต่อความต้องการของคนรุ่นต่อไปในอนาคต ซึ่งรายวิชาศึกษาทั่วไปในทักษะนี้แต่ละรายวิชามีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวข้องกับเรื่องการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน ซึ่งมหาวิทยาลัยได้มีการจัดรายวิชาที่ความสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs) ทั้ง 17 ด้าน  เช่น รายวิชา GESO115 The King’ s Philosophy for Local Development ซึ่งเป็นรายวิชาที่ออกแบบเพื่อให้นักศึกษาทราบถึงพระราชประวัติของพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชและพระบรมวงศานุวงศ์ ความหมาย หลักการ แนวคิด ความสําคัญ และเป้าหมายของหลักการทรงงาน โครงการอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ และการพัฒนาตามศาสตร์พระราชาอย่างยั่งยืน ตลอดจนถึงการลงพื้นที่สำรวจ วิเคราะห์ปัญหา การน้อมนําศาสตร์พระราชาไปประยุกต์ใช้ในให้การแก้ปัญหาของพื้นที่ตั้งแต่ระดับบุคคล องค์กรธุรกิจหรือชุมชนในระดับท้องถิ่น และระดับประเทศอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม รวมถึงเทคนิคการสร้างภาคีเครือข่าย และการฝึกปฏิบัติงานโดยบูรณาการแบบองค์รวมกับทีมภาคีเครือข่าย และรายวิชา SOED332Community Study and Community Based Learning  for Life Long เป็นรายวิชาที่ออกแบบเพื่อให้นักศึกษาทราบถึงโครงสร้างระบบการศึกษาส่วนท้องถิ่น บทบาทของคนและองค์กรชุมชนศิลปวัฒนธรรมจารีต ประเพณีท้องถิ่น  กิจกรรมและการจัดกิจกรรมเพื่อพัฒนาคนและองค์กรชุมชนและสิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างยั่งยืน รายละเอียดดังตาราง
